SWVA, Inc. (doing business as Steel of West Virginia, Inc.) is proud to be the sole North American bulb flat manufacturer.

Bulb flats are the plate stiffener of choice for the shipbuilding industry, due primarily to their excellent strength to weight ratio and the fact that their shape prevents the buildup of corrosive debris. Up to 20% of the ship’s hull steel could possibly employ these sections. They are used in both commercial and military vessels.

We produce 140mm x 8mm up to 240mm x 12mm in various lengths no longer than 40'. We are currently ABS and Lloyds certified.
